Our mailbox is about 300' from our house. This beeps and gives a red light with the the little plug in gadget that is part of this set that we have in our living room. We put the other part of the set, the mechanism on our mailbox door with the pull off tape that comes with it and some E6000 glue for extra security. Happy so far.. - Sam, Ohio
